What to Expect
What you can expect from Dr. Bucci is an honest and individual approach to your specific symptoms. Initial appointments involve a detailed consultation, history and evaluation. After your evaluation, Dr. Bucci will go over your evaluation findings and determine if you qualify for treatment in our office. If you do, he will thoroughly explain how his treatments will help your specific condition.

There are NO cookie-cutter approaches and NO long-term treatment plans in our office. In fact, all patients respond to treatment at different rates, so prescribing excessive treatment upon your initial appointment would be purely speculation.

Virtually all patients are prescribed 2-4 treatments, and their response to the treatment is judged. If improvement continues, patients can continue seeking treatment.

This may be a vastly different experience than other Pittsburgh Chiropractors.


Do I Have to Keep Coming Back?
N0! Many Pittsburgh Chiropractic clinics may request you to seek treatment for long periods of time. Most of Dr. Bucci's patients receive significant relief from their symptoms in a short amount of time. (Some conditions do take longer, depending on the individual)

When our patients recover from their injury or symptoms, they are not required to continue treatment.

Therefore, you do not have to keep coming back!

Sports Injuries
The vast majority of sports injuries that slow us down are soft tissue injuries. Injuries like:

Sprained Ankles, Plantar Fasciitis, Shin Splints, Runner's Knee and other Knee Pain, IT Band Syndrome, Piriformis Syndrome, Shoulder Pain, Back Pain, Golfer's Elbow, Tennis Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Other Strains/ Sprains, Pulled Muscles, Tendonitis

Scar Tissue is the Issue!
All of these injuries can cause the body to lay down dense, fibrotic scar tissue in the area of injury. This will prevent the muscles and other tissues from moving freely. And as scar tissue builds, muscles shorten and weaken. This can also place pressure on the tendons causing tendonitis. And since many of your nerves travel through soft tissues, your nerves can become entrapped with these injuries. In this scenario, your range of motion becomes limited, weakness in the muscles will manifest, and it can be extremely painful in the area of injury. And with nerve involvement, you may also feel numbness or tingling.

Other Overuse Injuries
ART® is effective for more than just sports injuries. In fact there are two other categories of injuries that get tremendous results with Active Release: Repetitive Motion injuries and Constant Tension injuries.

Repetitive Motion Injuries
These injuries are very similar to the sports injuries described above but describes the soft tissue injuries that occur outside of sports.

Scar tissue still builds up in the muscles and other soft tissues with Repetitive Motion injuries. And in turn still causes weakness, tension, limited mobility and potentially nerve entrapment.

This category of injury occurs from an activity like typing on the computer all day with littles rest or stretch. It can lead to something like Carpal Tunnel.

Or maybe you have a more physically demanding job where you are doing a lot of bending and twisting throughout the day. This can manifest as a soft tissue injury of the neck and back.

Constant Tension Injuries
Unlike the other injuries mentioned above, a constant tension soft tissue injury is an injury that occurs due to a constant stress on muscles. What makes this a unique injury is that the muscles do not have to be moving for an injury to take place.

A great example of this type of injury is development of pain and tension from sitting at a desk all day, everyday. Eventually posture will be altered and a significant amount of pressure will fall on to the postural muscles of the upper back and neck.
From here, the injury process is very similar to the ones mentioned above (scar tissue, weakness, limited mobility, pain and potentially numbness and tingling).
