More about Plantar Fasciitis...

Plantar fasciitis. What an annoying and painful condition. Whether you lead an active lifestyle OR you're just trying to get through everyday activities, Plantar Fasciitis can really be a pain!

But, what is Plantar Fasciitis and How can it be resolved? Fasciitis literally means an inflammation of soft tissue (fascia).
Specifically, the plantar fascia is located on the bottom of the foot. When injured, it becomes inflamed and full of scar tissue. And it causes heel pain because that's where the fascia inserts.

The problem is, there are other tissues that connect directly in to the heel. So often times, “Plantar Fasciitis” might actually be inflammation of a another tissue!

Further complicating this condition are 2 other factors: 1. Are other tissues that support the foot/ankle also inflamed (I.e. calf muscles) AND 2. Are the joints of the foot moving freely?

Ignoring these other factors makes for a longer recovery time.

To recap, 3 things must be considered with Plantar Fasciitis.
  • Which specific tissue(s) of the foot are affected?
  • Are the supporting tissues of the foot/ankle also inflamed?
  • Are the foot joints moving freely?
If all 3 are not considered, then Plantar Fascia-type pain can really linger!
The Solution? Dr. Bucci implements a state of the art soft tissue treatment protocol called Active Release® to eliminate inflammation and scar tissue. Thus, restoring normal function of the soft tissues which leads to pain relief. Often, in just a few visits.
